Course overview

Strathmore University School of Hospitality and Tourism (STH) has developed the Hospitality Professional and Leadership Development Programme (HPDP) to cater for the needs of the current and future hospitality industry leaders. The programme is structured to equip participants with life-long skills necessary to advance business and personal successes in the hotel industry.


Hoteliers face several challenges including work/life balance, career progression, inadequate managerial skills, adapting to changes in technology and the dynamism of the hospitality sector.


HPDP provides a forum for Interaction and networking with fellow hoteliers in various capacities, a unique and integral component of the programme. We believe that by the time the executive is done with the course he/she will be in a position to exceed standards and insist on the highest quality, research and innovation, while continuously exhibiting high levels of integrity and ethics in his/her operation. Participants of this programme stand better chances of advancing their career and getting into managerial positions.


For whom?

Hospitality professionals with a minimum of two years’ experience in the hospitality industry or related industries from line staff to senior executives.

Program delivery

The course content is delivered by a number of respected hospitality practitioners, policy makers, seasoned academics and renowned guest speakers, to ensure an academically rigorous and relevant course.


The programme is delivered in two modules of 5 days each.



Participants who successfully complete both modules will receive a Strathmore University Certificate. 75% attendance is mandatory.



Participants will identify a prominent and notable challenge in their work place and will be mentored to ensure they have developed sustainable solutions to the issues presented.


Cancellation Policy

A 50% refund will be made for cancellations received in writing before 15th April 2018. No refunds thereafter.
